Happy Hats for Kids This charity was founded in 1991 for Sheri Schrier after she lost 3 family members to cancer, and was inspired to try to bring some cheer into the lives of children who had suffered hair loss due to chemotherapy. In 1993, the mission expanded to giving Happy Hats to children with AIDS, and to all children in hospitals and their siblings. Volunteers are called Happy Hatters and there are now more than 1000 of them who have made more than 50,000 Happy Hats.
