In July, 2000, Tim built a pond alongside our sunroom. The sunroom is 19 feet long and the pond runs the entire length, but is in four tiers creating a gentle waterfall effect.

This is a side view of the entire pond.

Above was our original pond. A few years later, my little boy, Eros, decided to "swim" across the pond to get to Mom. When he dove in, he tore the liner. Tim had been wanting to build a bigger, better pond. This was the motivation he needed. He hand dug a pond 13 feet across in front of our kennels.

That same year, the fish spawned like crazy. We got babies!!! Lots and Lots of babies. They are now 2 years old. Some are fairly large, while others are still only a few inches long. We got some really interesting colors as well.

Last year, I needed a blue koi. I won an ebay auction and got the female fish we call "Blue Belle". You'll never guess what I discovered...we had several blue Koi that were born in our pond. Good thing I didn't bid on the black one, too. (Yes, we have some of them as well.)

Last winter we lost several of our large original fish, including Bertha, Sable, and Mick. We were very sad! Fortunately most of the babies seem to have made it. Now if we can just keep that Heron out of the pond. (Heeeeeeeere Eros.) That is the reason for the owl on the fence and the duck decoy floating in the pond.

Above is a photo of half of the re-designed original pond. This is where we now start our new plants because the larger fish are very destructive. There are about a fifteen fish in this pond, including our three original goldfish and babies. There are some very cool fish in this pond. We have one that looks like blue merle. Hopefully I will be able to photograph him and add to the site. You can only see him when the sun is right over the pond because he is pretty dark.
